If it was possible to give this property management company -5 stars, I would. They are slumlords at best. The apartment complex itself is old. The gentleman who build it, owned it until 4 years ago. He was cheap, but he fixed things. Since he sold to a trust everything has gone downhill. These trusts hire HomeRiver Group to "Manage" the properties. HomeRiver is so hands off, the first month they were managing, we had no gas for heating and no hot water for a week over the New Years holiday. Complaints are plentiful. Office ... read more

We moved into a HomeRiver managed property last June and it has truly been the worst experience I have ever had with a company. They frequently overbilled me for utilities, without explanation, and would not get back to me after I had called repeatedly. Maintenance issues were not dealt with in a timely manner and it's like pulling teeth to get any information out of anyone working there. I was unfortunately affected by Hurrican Idalia recently. Up to that point, ive never really had to reach out to them (Homeriver), until that happened. I have been trying now for weeks to get hold of property manager I have left several messages, and then to the sr. manager, ann ********, who told me on 10/31 she would call me back, not only do i want to re rent my home, there were also charges that didnt make sense to me either... I only have been with Homeriver group for about a month and it has been one of the most horrible experiences I have ever been through. DO NOT EXPECT TO EVER RECEIVE A CALL BACK. Literally on anything. They are one stop short from even existing in the first place. We have been down to the offices multiple times and there is NO ONE there. Hi I was under Great Jones when I moved in then for some reason this sorry ass company name Home River Group took over my house that I rented through Great Jones. They never answer the phone. Got a office here in Columbia SC that no one is at. There is just a door and no name on it. The people that work next to the office said they only see the lady that work there only on Fridays. We received an e-mail saying that we were denied. We were both a little shocked due to neither one of us had a criminal record, making more than three times the amount of money monthly, and having high credit scores. When asked they said it was due to no credit history, after repeatedly asking and trying to find out where the problem was instead of helping me, they kept on telling me that I needed to go to TransUnion and dispute my credit report. Rented through HRG back in February of 2023 and it was the worse experience ever! Never talked to no one on the phone. Everyone wanted to send emails. I ended up breaking the lease by paying 2 months rent upfront. That was in May, and here it is October and they still have my security deposit. One of their reps emailed me and and stated that they mailed it out back in July and provided a bogus shipping label. According to the tracking, it never left the office. Do not rent from them.

Living at same property 3 years, takes for ever for them to do repairs, even some of the repairs they just closedthe case and never take care, really shady on renewals, set an offer and when you commit to it they change the amounts on the contract. Poor to none comunication, no one cares to take care of situation.
