I am supposed to be entitled to back up care through my employer. They mentioned that my onsite daycare provider is in-network with Care.com I was unable to book through their website, and the only options that were provided were 7 - 10 miles in the opposite direction of my work. On 08/15/24 I contacted cae.com for caregivers and was contacted by many who I was speaking with but never hired.On 08/18/24 I noticed that 142 dollars was removed from my account by them.I contacted them immediately and received the response below. I sense they are taking advantage of people who may be in a urgent or crisis situation. Care.Com is a scam. I only wanted to register for one month to see the website. They have charged me for a whole year subscription. I canceled it at the same time. But they have still charged me on my card and I can see on my account it says next payment is due in 2025. When I registered it said can cancel anytime and u will not get cha. Absolute scam. Charged us for a package we did not approve, then after seeing a extra $300+ charge come out of the bank we called them. After days of arguing we got our money refunded. But then they kept the couple hundred dollars we actually agreed to but limited our ability to contact anyone and actually use the service we paid for. DO NOT USE. I was a client of care.com for 7 years from 2017 to 2024. Randomly, (and after 7 years of hiring people and using their service), they ran a background check on me and found a misdemeanor from when I was in college OVER 27 YEARS AGO (dumb college prank - no excuses - but the penalty was a simple fine). Their own policies state that they only go back 7 years (where you've lived in the past 7 years) on a criminal check. And they ran this check on the wrong state! Be aware of this scam. Do not buy this service.
Filed a claim for backup care reimbursement which is a benefit offered in partnership with my employer. Care.com approved the claim for payment on 6/11/24 and said it typically takes 10 business days for payment. As of today, I have still not received payment, and Care.com has been terrible to communicate with. It has now been nearly two months since they approved the claim and they have stopped providing updates. They refused to help me when I was charged for the unlimited background checks. I did it on the mobile app, was charged through Apple, and they claim they are unable to help because no record of it showed on their end. I've requested refunds through apple and will never be using their service again. The messages load slow or not at all half the time, half of their UI is unusable or does not function correctly.
