Care.com charges caregivers a fee in order to complete a care check background check however they do nothing to ensure the safety of their caregivers by doing any type of checks on the people seeking care services. Care.com also allows any and everyone to come on their site to post a review irregardless of what the actual situation is. You can decline a job because you can't agree to terms and someone can go on care.com and write a bad review saying they hired you and you "no-showed/no-called." totally wasted my time and money , one person even brought a non English speaking person and said she can vouch for her even if she isnt a service provider on care which was scary what kind of an agency is this and they have an auto renewal policy u cant opt out of and recharged and when I call and tell the situation and ask for refund the next day they say they dont and give the run around and when asked to talk to supervisor they say they cant transfer as they dont know how and the supervisor can only send an email and can... read more
TOTAL SCAM!! Signed up and paid my money; THEN I read the reviews! What a DUMB?!?, Cancelled within 15 minutes, received email confirming cancellation, but cant get a refund. Again this is my fault. Do yourself a favor and stay far away from this company.
False advertisement on cost. The annual membership says "12/mo" and the payment link leads you to enter your card information with a minimized drop down menu that is easy to miss. They proceed to charge you >$150. Ridiculous.
My account has been inactive for over a year, yet I was charged a membership renewal fee this morning. I immediately contacted them within 1hr of being charged and asked why I was charged a membership fee when my account has been closed for the past year. I was told closing the account doesn't end your subscription. They denied me a refund on an auto-renewal. I didn't use their services and was unaware I had a subscription. However, denying a refund the day after a renewal is paid is bad business. Additionally, they do not email you to remind you that a renewal date is coming. THIS IS BAD BUSINESS. Use other nanny/babysitting sites. Unfortunately, this service and platform are very disfunctional. It's complicated, antiquated, and so very user unfriendly! Often times days and times are not accurate only because of this cumbersome platform. I went for an interview yesterday and it was hard on both of us, because the lady hiring the caretaker needed days and times that were not posted accurately, and the actual days/times she needed did not work for me. I had hoped to find reliable childcare through care.com but really just found frustration. I would post a request and send messages directly to the providers recommended to me. In all but one instance, I never received a response. Not even a "no, thank you" or "I'm not available". Just nothing. I made sure I was offering a competitive rate and tried to be very detailed (without violating the ambiguous care.com policies) in my requests. Should have read the reviews first - as far as I can tell it is impossible to cancel the subscription! The website tells me to use the app, and the app is totally dysfunctional. Total scam!
