Two years ago, I signed up with Care.com to help my friend find a babysitter. I never used it again until today when I wanted to sign up to be a care provider. It said I had to begin a new account, so I did. After doing that, I signed up for their Premium at $4.99 promotional, raising it to $8.99 monthly after the first month. In order to talk to customer service they state you have to pay for a premium membership. I paid $38 for a one month service so I could ask them my questions about hidden charges I had read about. When I tried to contact them they first ask for user name and password. Was told invalid user despite me paying my $38. After 2 days of digging I found their phone number. This website is a total scam. They have no house cleaners because I contacted 20 and not one got back to me. They charge you $38.95 just to have access to people that dont exist. Beware.

I had paused (canceled) my caregiver account so I wouldn't be charged the yearly ********* fee because I found a permanent job. Their website (and app) don't work well most of the time so I think the website didn't actually downgrade my account. I didn't think any more about it until my credit card was just recently charged the yearly fee. Care.com claims I didn't cancel it, that I should have received an email verification if I had, so they won't issue a refund. I downgraded my account in August of 2023 after we found our nanny. It is March 2024 and I've just discovered Care.com credit card charges. I do look at my statements regularly but have never noticed the charges from Care. At $50 a month that is 7 months or $350 they have stolen from me. I give my ENTIRE days pay over to our nanny (whom we adore). I can only work 3 days a week because my son is disabled, we have nursing 2 days and our nanny on days when I have to go in to the office. I started a three month subscription the end of November 2023, and canceled the subscription mid January because our nanny started working at that time and there was no need to use it anymore (we didnt find the nanny through care.com). When I canceled it in January, the website logged me out immediately and I was not able to log back in. So I thought I cancelled it successfully. All of the potential candidates were either too far or not available for dates needed! I had the service for 48 hours and even interviewed the ONLY person available to then have them no show-no call

I was charged for a year today, less than three hours ago. I got a 20% discount with a code from **************** At the point of choosing the three plans there was not a premium plan offered. This was confusing. I navigated the site to call them for clarification, however there was no phone number listed. I kept looking for contact us and it directed me to frequent questions. This business is web based. They plant emails in your in-box which you can't unsubscribe from. They do offer an opt-out option, but you have to have to do it in writing by mailing the request to Care.com, Attn: legal department, ********************************************************************. This is incredily inconvenient, especially for someone like myself whoo is visually impaired, making written correspondence a serious burden. IS there anything that can be done about this?
